Hot Milk Cake
This is a delicious spongy cake! VERY similar to an angel food cake. It's so nice and fluffy you can almost feel it jumping in your mouth! It's a great cake that's not too rich. The brown sugar frosting compliments the cake perfectly.
The Recipe
Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup hot milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1 scant tsp. cream of tarter
5 egg whites
pinch of salt
In a large mixing bowl sift together flour, sugar and baking powder several times. Once combined pour 1 cup of warm milk over mixture and mix well. Set aside. Beat 5 egg whites, when egg whites are half beaten add cream of tarter and pinch of salt. Continue beating until stiff peaks form. Fold egg whites into cake batter. Spread into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
This cake was to die for. Your Grandmother made it a lot. It when to a lot of family reunions.
